Restoration Update: Bringing Mid-Century Magic to At Random

As the brisk winds of fall settle in, casting longer shadows and cooler nights, we're thrilled to provide you with a progress report on the At Random facade restoration project. Our dedicated team of carpenters and painters has been working tirelessly, and we're delighted to share that we're nearing the finish line. The heart of this restoration lies in preserving the authentic charm of At Random. The original clapboard, hidden for nearly 100 years and weathered by time, has been carefully repaired or replaced as needed. The windows, a key feature of this mid-century gem, have all been moved in by 3 inches to ensure they maintain their integrity while enhancing energy efficiency. The meticulous trim work, a labor of love, is nearly complete, and we eagerly anticipate the return of our beautifully stained glass windows, currently undergoing a meticulous restoration. Yet, there's more to the story. One of the most exciting aspects of this project has been the reintroduction of vintage-style lighting, a nod to the mid-century era's fascination with design and innovation. We knew that finding lighting fixtures that truly matched our vision would be a challenge, so we turned to the experts. In a stroke of serendipity, we connected with Remcraft Lighting, one of the original manufacturers of the iconic bullet-style lighting fixtures that adorned rooftops and lounges during the mid-century heyday. Since no off-the-shelf options quite fit our unique application, we posed a creative challenge to our friends at Remcraft: could they custom-build bullet fixtures that embodied the essence of a 1960s cocktail lounge?

The answer was a resounding yes, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. These vintage-style fixtures, finished in a dazzling gold hue to complement the mid-century ambiance inside our lounge, have been carefully installed. What sets them apart is their ability to cast a warm, amber glow across the entire building, invoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth reminiscent of our interior decor.

But the magic doesn't end there. These lights are tunable, allowing us to transform our facade during the holiday season with a flick of a switch, bathing our building in festive reds and greens.
